Tim O’Sullivan spent 5 weeks at our school conducting basketball lessons for a group of our students. The lessons were structured and a lot of fun for all the students. Skill based activities kept students busy and engaged and were well catered to a variety of skill levels. I could not believe the amount of improvement the students made in just 5 weeks! We will definitely get the Tim back at school again soon!

Tim coached my son when he first started playing basketball 6 months ago. Thanks to Tim’s dedication and commitment, he was able to quickly understand the game and learn many techniques. Tim did a great job of really nurturing a passion for this very exciting sport! He built great team spirit, so much so that despite only having played together for a few months, the team won their first competition! Tim has engendered in Ewan a love of basketball. Thanks Tim!

Tim O’Sullivan is a real gentleman, he is professional and great with the kids. We were very lucky to have Tim coach our year 7 Balgowlah Boys Team. Many of the boys had not played competition before and he was able to teach the boys skills and bring them together as a successful team that won the Grand Final! Tim is really good at what he does “coaching”, and he delivers results over and above what is anticipated. Tim’s style is structured, fair and encouraging, and I would want him as coach every time.

Tim O’Sullivan knows his basketball, understands how to make a team successful and - importantly - how to guide and inspire individual players to reach their full potential.

I have no hesitation in recommending Tim O’Sullivan as a basketball coach.

My 13 year old son had the benefit of having Tim as a basketball coach for six months. Over those months, Tim not only gave him greater skills and knowledge of basketball, but he taught him the value of determination, commitment and teamwork. My son isn’t a natural basketball player, he loves the game, but his skills and attention are nowhere near the level of his team mates. A few times during the season he lost heart and felt like he didn’t belong in the team. He lost interest in training and the game. I had a word with Tim about this and he was amazing, He chatted with my son and totally turned his view of himself and his place in the team around. He started attending training again and took each game as it came, knowing his part in the team. Whenever I approached Tim, he was non-judgemental, optimistic and looked for the silver lining in the situation. Tim is easy-going, people orientated and definitely approachable. Tim is no longer my son’s coach, but still attends games and always gives him a positive comment or pat on the back. It’s been almost a year now and my son still plays in the same team and loves every second of it. In short, Tim is a great coach, mentor and inspiration.

Tim conducted a basketball clinic at our school, teaching students ranging in age and abilities. He ensured all students were engaged, learning new skills and enjoying themselves. Tim worked well with the staff members of our school and provided a fantastic program.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Coach Tim now for the past 2 years, as he has coached my 10 year old son in an U12 boys team at a Representative level. Tim’s knowledge and understanding of basketball are second to none. I am actually amazed by his coaching capabilities, because he was able to engage a group of 10 boys (all between the ages of 9-11) and maintain their interest, improve their skills immensely and keep calm the whole time... is that even possible? With Tim, yes... he truly has patience beyond belief! I was also in regular, almost daily contact with Tim as Team Manager for those 2 years and every email, phone call or before and after game correspondence was always handled with understanding, patience, kindness and professionalism. Thank you Tim... you are the absolute best and I only wish we could clone you, so that every team got the chance to experience how awesome you are!

Tim O’Sullivan turned up for a one off day clinic at our school. From the moment Tim arrived it was obvious that Tim not only had a great passion for, and understanding of basketball, he was also very good at differentiating his lesson for different age groups and even more importantly he engaged them with a great sense of humour and fun lessons. I look forward to having Tim back to teach any class from K to 6 hopefully sooner rather than later.

Just by way of feedback, I asked Erin about the coaching so far and she said she liked you as a Coach. When I asked her why, she said:

- He makes things simple so we can concentrate on a couple of key things.
- He picks the few things we can change, and focuses on them to make the most difference (eg: focus on getting into a good position to do layups).
- He is a good sport and understands that everyone makes mistakes (eg: when the referee missed the touch by the opposition and pulled us up for cross court and he said “That’s the way the cookie crumbles!”)

I thought you might appreciate the positive feedback. Erin has had many coaches in various sports over the years, including at Rep and State level for AFL. She has played over 150 games of rugby, referees rugby herself and appreciates that an umpire can only see what they see and make calls the best they can so she appreciated your comments about the referee in particular.

We met Tim O’Sullivan when he was coaching my son’s basketball team at Balgowlah Boys High School. My son had never played basketball before being coached by Tim. Tim made learning the game fun, but not only fun; a team comprised of half the players never having played before, the team made it to the final, loosing only to the top team. My son enjoys basketball so much, he decided to play basketball during the winter, rather than football, which he played for 6 years. We attribute this in no small part to Tim.
— Peter Brandt, Player Parent
Our family has known Tim for a few years now through our sons love of basketball. We have been lucky and privileged to have had Tim coach our youngest son’s team. Without a doubt, Tim is his favourite coach. Tim’s passion for basketball is undisputed, yet his calm nature on the sidelines is highly appreciated by both children and parents. Tim is a highly regarded coach.
